Sessan Linjen

Past and Present – Sessan Linjen

Sessanlinjen (registered as Rederi AB Göteborg–Fredrikshavns-Linjen) was the name of a Swedish ferry company operating between 1935 and 1982. It was based in Gothenburg and operated mainly the line to Frederikshavn in Denmark. The shipping company was distinguished by its boats named after various Swedish princesses.

Sessanlinjen was acquired by Stena Line (its main competitor on the Gothenburg to Frederikshavn route) in 1982 . After the acquisition, Stena Line traded as Stena Sessan Line until 1983 when the Sessan name was dropped, however the Sessan name lives on in the Stena AB subsidiary company Stena Sessan.
