Truckline Ferries
Overview
Truckline Ferries was a ferry company operating a freight service from Poole, United Kingdom to Cherbourg, France. Services commenced in June 1973. Initially carrying just 2,324 in 1973 by 1983 Truckline were carrying 65,000 units annually. In 1985 Brittany Ferries (BAI) purchased 100% of the shareholding in Truckline. A new passenger service to Cherbourg was inaugurated in 1986 which eventually lead to the introduction of a superferry in 1992. In 1999 the Poole-Cherbourg route was rebranded as a Brittany Ferries route.
