History

June 12th 2006: Ordered. The ship is a hybrid design based on the ‘Vista‘ and ‘Spirit class’ cruise ships of Carnival Corporation & plc.

October 5th 2007: Keel struck.

June 30th 2008: Launched.

February 28th 2009: Sea trials.

May 28th 2009: Delivered to Costa Crociere SpA, Genoa, Italy.

May 5th 2009: Inaugural cruise from Venice.

June 5th 2009: Together with COSTA PACIFICA, christened in Genoa. It was the first time that two ships were simultaneously christened, not only for Costa but also in the world. With this, the dual christening ceremony set a Guinness World record in the category, “Most ships inaugurated in one day by one company”.

June 2022: Announcement made that COSTA LUMINOSA is to join Carnival Cruise Line as CARNIVAL LUMINOSA in November 2022.

September 7th 2022: Arrived Palermo.

June 8th 2022: Transferred to Carnival Cruise Line and renamed CARNIVAL LUMINOSA.
