The Sun and the Moon

Introduction

Having gained an extra day off work this week and with a good weather forecast I decided to get up early to try and capture the arrival of AIDA Cruises ‘AIDAluna’. When the alarm went off at 05:30 it was evident by the light streaming through the curtains that it was indeed a beautiful Spring morning.

A quick check of AIS revealed the AIDAluna was approaching the pilot station so I headed for the Prince of Wales pier here in Dover. Thankfully this time of year the pier is opened to the public relatively early so I managed to get some good shots as she crossed the harbour accompanied by the DHB Doughty. She then swung in the Western entrance before going astern into cruise terminal two.

Now you may be asking why the title “The Sun and the Moon”? Well it’s a play on words, it was sunny and I was photographing the AIDAluna, I am really sorry, I obviously got up way too early for a day off……
