Steel twin screw “Stena Searunner” class motor vessel built in 1978 by Hyundai Shipbuilders & Heavy Industries, Ulsan, South Korea (Yard No 650) as a Passenger RoRo Cargo vessel.

Technical Data


History

In total, 11 vessels of the Stena Searunner design were built by Hyundai Heavy Industries, South Korea, and the first vessel was delivered in 1977. Those vessels remaining in service are operated by a number of operators around the world and as a group they are considered to be one of the most successful classes of RoRo vessels ever built.

July 11th 1977: Keel laid as IMPARCA EXPRESS I 

March 17th 1978: Launched.

June 30th 1978: Delivered to Stena Atlantic Line Ltd, Hamilton, Bermuda.

February 1982: Sold to Stena Ocean Line Ltd, Georgetown, Cayman Island.

February 1982: Chartered to Ignazio Messina & C. S.p.A., Naples, Italy and renamed JOLLY BRUNO.

September 1st 1987: Services between Gothenburg – Travemunde.

1988: Transferred to Stena Carrier Ltd, Georgetown Cayman Island.

May 2000: Bareboat charter to Stena Line Ab, Gothenburg (Registered to Stena Line Shipholding BV, Gothenburg).

November 18th 2003: Sold to Grundstenen 99072 Ab Gothenburg and chartered to Stena RoRo.

March 5th 2004: Change of company name to Interbaltic Ab, Gothenburg.

April 16th 2004: Final service between Gothenburh – Travemunde.

April 16th 2004: Sold to Lillbacka Powerco Oy, Maxmo, Finland. 

April 22nd 2004: Renamed GLOBAL CARRIER.

April 23rd 2004: Left Gothenbug for Travemude.

April 24th 2004: Arrived in Travemunde.

April 24th 2004: Services between Turku – Travemunde.

October 2004 – October 28th 2004: Chartered to Sea Wind Line for services (Tuesday – Thursday) between Turku – Stockholm, remaining days for Power Line between Turku – Travemunde..

December 12th 2004 – January 2005: Chartered to RG-Line for trips between Vaasa – Umea.

January 2006: Chartered to Finnlines for services Helsinki – Hull.

February 27th 2010: In Oxelosund, collided with ECOSTAR G.O. and damaged her bow.

March 5th 2010: Left Oxelosund for repairs in Szczecin.

March 6th 2010:  Arrived at Ship Repair Yard “GRYFIA” Szczecin, Poland.

April 2010: Returned to service.

April 2012: Left Northern Europe.

June 10th 2012: Beached at Aliaga, Turkey for scrapping.
