Brittany Ferries statement on Department for Transport (DfT) contract

13 October 2020

“Brittany Ferries is pleased to have won freight contracts with the Department for Transport (DfT). The contracts guarantee space on services connecting Le Havre with Portsmouth and Cherbourg with Poole, starting in January 2021. The company says the news reinforces the value of an extensive and established route network stretching beyond short-sea (Dover-Calais).

It comes as Brittany Ferries strengthens its freight offering welcoming new ship Galicia to Portsmouth for the first time today (13 October). Galicia will enter service in December 2020, serving freight and passenger traffic.”

New modern freight and passenger ferry operates on the Baltic Sea

The ferry company Stena Line continues its planned expansion on the Baltic Sea and is now revealing the name of a new modern freight and passenger ferry that will start sailing on the Baltic Sea from mid-April. The new addition STENA LIVIA will initially operate the line between Nynäshamn / Norvik and Ventspils in Latvia together with the sister ship STENA FLAVIA (ex WATLING STREET)

Later in 2021, Stena Livia and Stena Flavia on the Nynäshamn-Ventspils  route will be replaced  by the 222-meter-long modern ships Stena Scandica and Stena Baltica, which will increase capacity by 30 percent.

Stena Livia and Flavia will instead be moved to Stena Line’s line between Travemünde in Germany and Liepaja in Latvia where they will increase the capacity of the line by as much as 40 percent while shortening the travel time significantly, from 27 to 20 hours.
