This months photography roundup heavily features DFDS Seaways new Dover-Calais vessel the Malo Seaways. She arrived in Dover for berthing trials on the 20th April 2015 and entered service, replacing the Calais Seaways, on the 22nd April 2015. The Calais Seaways has now gone to Gdansk in Poland for an extended dry docking which will involve the replacement of one of her main engines. As well as being on hand for the maiden arrival of the ‘Malo’ in Dover we also managed a late afternoon trip to Calais with P&O Ferries on the 24th April to catch the ‘Malo’ on the move in Calais harbour as well.
In what has become a yearly trip around the Easter period we joined the Brittany Ferries vessel Normandie on the 30th March for her overnight crossing to Caen (Ouistreham). After an early morning arrival in Ouistreham on the 31st March we spent the whole day in Normandy before returning overnight to Portsmouth on the Brittany Ferries vessel Bretagne from the Breton port of St Malo.
As some of you are more than likely aware in October of last year myself and Paul Cloke undertook a number of crossings of the Irish Sea with Irish Ferries. Just like previous voyage reports you will find a full photographic account of our trip along with some commentary about the journey itself. As I am not really known for taking internal photographs of ships I have linked to videos produced by Irish Ferries which show their ships and their extensive facilities.
