Bore

Bore Ltd is a modern international shipping business which can trace its history back until 1987. The company specialises in the RoRo charter business. The Bore Steamship Company was founded in 1897. It’s first ship S/S Bore, built for year around traffic between Turku and Stockholm, was delivered in 1898.

In 1958 Finnish Steamship Company, Rederi Aktiebolaget Svea and Bore founded Silja Line to operate passenger services between Finland and Sweden. In 1980 Bore withdrew from passenger shipping to focus on RoRo cargo shipping.

In 2016 Bore was acquired by the Spliethoff Group. The group is one of the largest ship management companies in the Netherlands. With nearly a century of maritime experience, the Amsterdam headquartered Group has a broad portfolio of specialised services in sectors including dry cargo, breakbulk and project cargo (Spliethoff), project and heavy lifts (BigLift Shipping), container and Ro-Ro cargo and door-to-door services (Transfennica and Transfennica Logistics), shortsea (Wijnne Barends) and yacht transport (Sevenstar Yacht Transport).
