Steel single screw motor vessel built in 1979 by Frederikshavn Vaerft A/S, Frederikshavn, Denmark  (Yard No 380) as a RoRo Cargo ship.

History

April 25th 1979: Launched.

July 27th 1979: Delivered as MERCANDIAN CARRIER II to Merc-Scandia XXIV P/R, Copenhagen, Denmark.

1984: Renamed ALIANZA.

1984: Renamed MERCANDIAN CARRIER II.

1985: Chartered to an unknown company and renamed CARRIER II.

August 22nd 1985: Sold to POETS Fleet Management Ltd, England and renamed BELARD.

December 11th 1985: Sent to Clydedock Engineering Ltd., Glasgow, Scotland for an extensive, £1 Million, refit. “Vectwin Rudders were fitted together with a directional Elliot White Gill Jet to augment the thrust from her propeller. These additions made her so manoeuvrable that it was said she could do 15 knots ahead, 8 knots astern and 5 knots sideways. The refit was complete when the vehicle lift to her upper freight deck was replaced with an internal ramp.”.

February 1986: Replaced POINTER on the Ardrossan – Belfast service.

December 1st 1990: Ownership transferred to Northern Ireland Trailers (Scotland) Ltd and management transferred to Pandoro Ltd.

October 29th 1992: Ownership transferred to Pandoro Ltd.

December 19th: Transferred to Ardrossan/Larne service.

January 1993: “Services Ardrossan  – Larne after a dispute with Belfast Harbour Commissioners. Had the white P & O letters on her hull painted out in favour of Pandora painted on her superstructure in blue.”.

November 1993: Replaced by MERCHANT VALIANT

November 23rd 1993: Bareboat chartered to Mannin Line Ltd, Isle Of Man (subsidiary of Isle Of Man Steam Packet Co, Douglas) for service between Great Yarmouth – Ijmuiden.

August 15th 1994: Sold to Isle Of Man Steam Packet Co., Douglas, Isle Of Man.

May 6th 1995: Great Yarmouth – Ijmuiden services were closed.

May 15th 1995 – May 16th 1995: Chartered to Commodore Ferries as cover for the Guernsey – Portsmouth service.

June 1995 – September 1995: Chartered to Pandoro, Fleetwood for services Ardrossan – Larne.

November 1995: Laid up in Liverpool.

January 19th 1996: Services Douglas – Heysham covering PEVERIL.

March 1996: Chartered to Exxtor Ferries for services between Immingham – Rotterdam.

March 1996: Laid up in Liverpool.

March 5th 1997 – April 10th 1997: Chartered to P&O European Ferries for services Cairnryan – Larne, then returned to Heysham – Douglas.

January 13th 1998: Final Heysham – Douglas service.

January 1998: Sold to Aabrenaa Rederi A/S, Kingstown, St. Vincent & Grenadines.

February 1998: Services Abenra (Denmark) – Klaipeda (Lithuania) .

May 1999: Charter taken over by Scandlines Balticum Seaways for further services between Abenra – Klaipeda.

June 1999 – October 15th 1999: Laid up in Sonderborg, Denmark.

October 1999: Chartered to Kystlink A/S, Trondheim, Norway.

October 18th 1999: Services between Bergen – Sola.

November 2001 – December 2001: Chartered to P&O Scottish Ferries for services Aberdeen – Lerwick – Stromness.

January 22nd 2002 – February 10th 2002: Chartered to Isle Of Man Steam Packet Co, Douglas, Isle Of Man for services Douglas – Heysham.

May 28th 2002 – September 2002: Chartered to Ferryways, Oostend fro services between Belgium and the U.K.

September 23rd 2002: Left Rotterdam.

January 10th 2005: Grounded in Stornoway.

January 14th 2005: Repairs at A&P Birkenhead.

July 25th 2008: Grounded outside Stornoway but managed to free herself.

September 2013: Sold to  C-shipping, Novorossijsk, Russia and registered to Rosewhite Shipping SA, Mersin, Turkey.

October 3rd 2013 – October 20th 2013: Sailed from Stornoway to Samsun.

November 2013: Services Samsun – Gelendzhik.

January 1st 2020: Renamed HATAY

January 23rd 2020: Sold to Hatay Shipping Corp for services Samsun – Tuapse.
